Time Tips

How to save time.
There are many ways we can save time and energy. Consider some of the following ideas and challenge yourself to find other ways you can use your time wisely.
* Avoid waiting for long periods of time in the doctor’s office. Schedule the first appointment for the day or the first appointment after lunch.

* While waiting in a cashier’s line, take the clothing off the hanger, fold, put the price tags out to one side and stack. The cashier can scan the tickets quickly and the task can be done in minutes.

* Make a list of all the birthdays, anniversaries, or other special occasions for which you will need cards for the up-coming year. Purchase all of the cards needed in one visit to the store instead of going several times throughout the year.

* Delegate responsibilities or hire help to do the physically tiresome tasks in your household. This will allow you the time to accomplish other tasks that can be done only by you, along with preserving your energy.

* When taking clothes off a hanger, place the empty hanger at the end of the closet. It will be easier to grab all of the hangers at once when needed.

* Learn to do two things at a time throughout the day. Listen to your child read a book while you knit or crochet an afghan. Wash and dry the laundry while preparing a meal. Listen to a teaching tape while driving a vehicle. Chop vegetables or straighten a drawer while talking on the telephone.

* Enjoy the benefits of shopping at home from catalogs and utilizing delivery services. You can shop when the stores aren’t open!

* While driving a car, speak into a tape recorder (if it doesn’t distract you from driving). Record your thoughts and idea's about an up-coming event, report, or things you need to schedule at a later time.

* Work ahead of schedule as much as possible. Put gas in the car the day before going to town. Lay out your clothing the day before an outing and put the items you need to take with you in a plastic tote placed in the vechicle. Prepare a meal the day before a busy schedule or special event.
